About Rachel Grant

Hi!! I am Rachel (Arnett) Umbarger.  I graduated from Garnett High School and Emporia State University with a BSE. I have also had Reading Recovery Training. I have been in education for 35 years! I taught 3rd grade one year, Jr. High sewing two years, 1st and 2nd grade combination class five years, Kindergarten Para one year, Title 1 reading one year, and Kindergarten 25 years. 

I have 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren: Jana & Brady Turley (Barrett 4 and Corbin 1yr.);  Matt and Amanda Umbarger; Amy & Sam Schulte (Elizabeth 4); Sarah & Cory Young (Braden 9, Brilee 8, Calister 4). Two of my girls and their families live in GA. My son and other daughter live here.

I spent this summer in Georgia around the Atlanta area.  All the grandkids were together for a week in Georgia. We visited the Atlanta Zoo, Atlanta Botanical Gradens, several parks with water pads and the swimming pool, of course!!.  We had a great time and are making plans for next summer!!!!cool

I also have a second job. I work part time at Dollar Tree in Ottawa.

My hobbies are putting puzzles together, traveling, and sewing/crafting

Some of my favorite things are are: Iced chocolate coffee, old pictures of children by the artist Mabel Rollins Harris, Reece’s candy, Scentsy, Feetures socks, teacher things, antiques, Jelly Belly candy, peach anything to eat,  Vera Bradley, Thirty-One bags, Fried Chicken and Mashed Potatoes and puzzles!!!
