About Kim Self

My name is Kim Self. I grew up in Richmond, Kansas. I have been married for nine years to my husband, Jason. We reside in Ottawa with our little girl Hadley, and our dogs, Shady and Lulu. One of my hobbies includes running outside. I have participated in many 5K and 10Ks and one half marathon as well as multipe Warrior Dash events and recently the KC Women’s Timber Challenge. Another hobby of mine is spending time with family. Jason, Hadley, and I love being outside, taking walks, and riding bikes.

I attended Allen County Community for one year, then transferred to Pittsburg State University (GO-RILLAS!) earning a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. In May of 2019, I graduated with a Masters in Teaching through Pittsburg State University as well.

This is my eighth year of teaching at GES.  I am very excited to be teaching Science and Social Studies again this year! I love teaching science and letting the students discover and grasp new concepts through hands-on learning and collaborative discussions.

I am excited to share this year of teaching with such wonderful kids! This year is going to be fun and exciting for all of us!
