STROLLING THROUGH THE GES HALLS
It is easy to see that the GES students, teachers and staff have been working very hard just by walking down the hallways. Here are some of the things you will see.
WALMART DONATION TO GES
GES was recently awarded a donation from Walmart as part of their safe driving program. During a time period in July, donations were accumulated for every safe mile driven by Walmart drivers. Walmart representatives presented Mrs. Hedrick and GES with a $2,000 check. Thank you for this very generous donation!
Officer Levota Visits 2nd Graders
Recently, GES 2nd graders read the book, Officer Buckle & Gloria. Then, Office Levota (USD #365 Safety & Security Director) visited GES to talk with 2nd graders about safety tips. What a fun experience! One student even got to handcuff Officer Levota!
GES D.A.R.E. Graduation
GES fifth graders recently held their D.A.R.E. (Drug Awareness Resistence Education) graduation. Landon Wyatt and Corey Willard were essay winners. Congratulations to all of the fifth graders who completed the coursework!
VIRTUAL REALITY (VR) AT GES
Virtual Reality is a great educational tool being utilized at GES. One way which Virtual Reality is being implemented at GES is through Google Expeditions. With Expeditions, students can be transported to far off locations without ever leaving the classroom. Virtual Reality can also be used to “shrink” students to explore topics such as the human heart. We think of VR as our own Magic School Bus, allowing lessons to be brought to life and giving students a chance to take an active role in their learning. Below are students experiencing learning through VR.
2019 BOOK FAIR
Thanks to our parents, grandparents, and patrons for making this year’s Book Fair a success. There were so many good books to choose from. Classrooms entered a Book Fair Posterboard Contest! Winning PosterBoards went to 1W(Wittman) – FIrst Place, 2F (Feuerborn) - 2nd Place, 3S (Schaffer) – 3rd Place Some of the great posters are shown below.
The cold weather moved the Halloween Parade inside but it was still a fun time for GES Bullpups and staff.
Students are enjoying the dads, granddads, and friends who are participating in the WatchDOGS (dads of great students) Program this fall. It is special seeing them interacting with our students and being great mentors. Below are a few of the WatchDOGS who have visited.
